What the school says...

Monmouth School for Girls guides day and boarding pupils aged 11-18 through this crucial stage of their educational and emotional development. Our girls thrive and flourish within a positive, constructive and inspiring single-sex community, set in the outstanding natural beauty of the Wye Valley. Education is carefully planned to motivate girls; we deliver a broad choice of subjects, with teaching specifically tailored to their learning styles and subject choices free from any gender stereotyping. Monmouth girls develop a can-do attitude and make the most of the superb facilities on offer for sports, culture and the arts. Through our Diamond model, our girls benefit from the invaluable interaction with Monmouth School for Boys, sharing many trips and expeditions, events and community projects. Understanding the pressures of adolescence, our focused approach prepares girls for our co-educational Sixth Form, where they have the confidence to aim high in their specialist academic subjects and to fulfil their particular sporting, musical or artistic ambitions.
The school's preparatory department, Monmouth Prep School, is fully co-educational and was launched in September 2021.
As pupils progress into the Sixth Form, co-educational teaching and extensive joint social and co-curricular activities ensure a successful transition from school to university life.
The boarders, some of whom are weekly, play an important part in the life of the school and enjoy a more intimate atmosphere than is possible in a larger boarding community. There is a superb variety of clubs and societies at all levels of the school and a substantial commitment to the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
