All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Entrance
Into reception, not oversubscribed but ‘competition from good village schools is fierce’, says school. Children spend a morning in reception with their peer group and are observed in play. Older applicants come for a taster day (two if either party isn’t sure) and are assessed in reading and maths, spending time with the SENCo if necessary. ‘The idea is that they have a nice day.’ Stresses that she likes parents to be honest about any difficulties their child may have and that only those who it is felt genuinely won’t thrive or whose needs can’t be met that would not be accepted.
