Since January 2024, Tim O’Connell. Sport is his metier: gained a degree in sport and exercise science from Exeter followed by a PGCE specialising in physical education. This followed an illustrious sporting career at school where he played county-level hockey, cricket and rugby, even captaining the Under 17 East England hockey team. Started teaching at St. Felix School, Suffolk, before becoming head of the prep. Joined Heywood Prep in 2018 as deputy head to move closer to family in the west country. He still gets onto the sports pitch if given half a chance, ‘My PE kit is always in the back of the car so I can step in when we are short.’
