Principal
Since September 2015, Karen Grist. Previously head of college at St Pier’s (formerly Young Epilepsy) for four years, which she had joined in 2006 as vocational and work-based learning manager, becoming deputy head five years later. Had originally worked in mainstream education, initially as a PE teacher at Tolworth Girls School in Surrey. After teaching in Merseyside and Lancashire, had roles in often large post-16 colleges in Sussex and Surrey.
Committed, knowledgeable with nth degree understanding of all the complexities that go into running a specialist college. Was drawn to SEN education initially by the sense of teamwork, coupled with engaging with the learners. Now ‘can’t envisage working in any other sector.’
