There’s an alphabet of opportunities at Dame Bradbury’s.
It’s a creative community where ideas, individuals and their imaginations thrive. Our children light up when they learn by modelling the BFG, solving a murder mystery or working out how to prevent ice pops melting, while art, drama, music, sports and activities ranging from ballet to Warhammer help them to extend their boundaries.
We’re non-selective but that doesn’t mean we’re not academic. Our children perform well above the national average and enjoy a rich intellectual, cultural and social mix. What they share – from the age of three through to eleven – is a willingness to experiment and question. We prepare children for a wide range of senior schools, though as a school of the Stephen Perse Foundation there is a smooth transition to the senior school for those for whom this is the appropriate path. ...Read more

Since September 2022, James McCaughran, previously deputy head (as well as digital lead and head of computing) at Ipswich Prep and before that, director of co-curriculum at Perse Prep, Cambridge. Degree in business studies from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle and PGCE from Homerton College, Cambridge. Lives in Saffron Walden and is lead coach of the mini rugby and cricket clubs in the nearby village of Wendens Ambo. Says he is ‘excited to be working across such an inspirational learning community whose values and beliefs align so closely to my own’.
