Special Education Needs
The Good Schools Guide wites: Vranch House is an independent special school, owned and maintained by the Devon & Exeter Spastics Society. It caters for children with significant physical difficulties, in addition pupils may have profound communication difficulties and/or additional learning difficulties. All pupils have a Statement of Special Educational Needs. The school has a range of therapies based at the school, these include physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, and occupational therapy. A number of clinics are held at the school. In addition the school serves as a base for physiotherapy to over 100 mainstream pupils. A range of augmentative communication systems are used where appropriate, these include communication boards, touch talkers and talking books. Signing is used to aid both communication and the development of spoken language.
